2014 Kia Forte Review Fair Lawn

 

The Kia Forte was introduced to the American automotive market in 2009.  This compact car was initially available in a coupe and sedan configuration, with a hatchback added to the lineup in 2010. The car proved to be a good seller for Kia and attracted younger buyers.

Making Room

The Forte received a make-over for the 2014 model year.  The exterior was updated to a more stylish grille and front end and more interior room was added. The 2014 Forte is both longer and wider than previous models, which gives the car more passenger space. The 5-seater has front headroom of 39.1 inches, 42.2 inches of legroom and 56.1 inches of shoulder room.  Rear seat passengers enjoy 37.3 inches of headroom, and 35.9 and 54.9 of leg and shoulder room, respectively. The Forte also has 14.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the sedan, while the coupe offers 13.3 cubic feet and the hatchback has a generous 23.2 cubic feet.

Innovation Inside

2014 Forte drivers will enjoy AM/FM/MP3/CD audio system with satellite radio capacity and 4 speakers. There is an UBS auxiliary outlet and steering wheel mounted controls for the audio system, hands free phone and cruise. The 2014 Forte also has Bluetooth capacity, interior air filtration and a trip computer. And Outside

Heated power outside mirrors, solar control glass and projection beam headlights are all standard equipment on the Kia Forte. This car also has a locking fuel door and heated rear glass with a timer. Auto-off headlights are a convenient feature standard on the Forte along with tinted glass and power remote outdoor mirrors. A 1.8 liter L4 engine powers the Forte with 148 horsepower on 15 inch wheels.

A Safe Ride

The Kia Forte has ABS disc brakes on all wheels, driver-select steering assist and electronic stability control. There are air bags throughout the vehicle and traction control will help maintain driving safety. Tire pressure monitors are standard along with impact-absorbing steering columns and side-impact beams.

Fuel Efficiency

Gas mileage is good in the 2014 Forte is good but some of its competitors offer more efficient fuel usage. Forte earned an overall safety rating of 4 stars in government crash tests with 3 for frontal crashes, 5 for driver safety and only 2 for passenger safety. Forte has semi-independent rear suspension while some competitors have fully independent systems.
