The Kia Sorento Offers a Choice of Two World Class Power Trains

Whether your driving priorities lean towards fuel economy or performance first, the 2014 Kia Sorento has you covered. The V6 engine option is an all-aluminum 3.3 liter plant, producing a silky 290 BHP and a powerful 252 ft.-lbs. of torque. 

For the fuel efficiency minded, there is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine which still puts out a very respectable 191 BHP and 181 ft.-lbs. of torque at just 4,200 RPM.

Either way you go, the power gets put to the ground through a sophisticated six speed automatic transmission. The choice you have to make is whether you want the power delivered through the front wheels or to opt for Kia's Torque On Demand all-wheel drive, with torque vectoring in certain hazardous driving conditions.

The Kia Sorento includes many higher end features you'd expect from a more expensive crossover. These include front end LED positioning lamps combined with projection style headlights, optional fog lights available on all trim levels, which are positioned closer to the edges of the front bumper for better forward and side visibility, and large rear LED brake lamps which surround the turn indicators and reverse lights for an integrated and high visibility effect. Riding on your choice of 17, 18, or 19 inch wheels, the Kia Sorento has a remarkable three user chosen steering modes: Comfort, Normal, and Sport, all made available at the push of a button, activating different steering response from an electrically driven steering motor, which replaces the less responsive hydraulic steering pump of the past.

Comfort and Safety Abound

From its seven inch LCD driver's information display mounted in the gauge cluster to its available programmable powered lift gate, both the two row/five passenger, and the three row/seven passenger versions of the Sorento are made to delight its occupants.

 

The front seats can include an air ventilation feature, especially nice for leather seating on hot summer days. The available navigation system is addressed through either voice recognition, or by touching the 8" diagonal full color display, which also can SiriusXM satellite radio, and Kia's own UVO eServices4 telematics service, offering real time traffic updates, navigation, hands free Bluetooth calling, and other services, all of which can be decoupled from the main stereo speaker system if wanted. 

The Kia Sorento also features first row front and side mounted airbags, and front and second row head curtain airbags. A rollover sensor will fire the side curtain airbags before any accident occurs.
